How are labels produced from a self-adhesive laminate ?
Self-adhesive labels or stickers etc. are produced by so-called “die-cutting” the labels or shapes from the self-adhesive laminate.
In this process only the top layer of the laminate (i.e. the face material) is cut but the underlying “release liner” remains intact.
After removing the surrounding face material (so-called “matrix stripping”), the labels are positioned like “islands” on the release liner.
