What happens with paper left as litter left by the roadside ?

Litter is a very disturbing and regrettable phenomenon in our society and everything possible should be done to avoid it. Education and legislation are the main tools to fight it.

Because paper is biodegradable it will fortunately disappear very quickly. It will disintegrate and return in the carbon cycle like a leaf fallen from a tree. Of course when paper is combined with another less biodegradable material at least the non-paper part of the material will remain much longer.
